May 25 (UPI) -- Code Black showrunner Michael Seitzman announced via Twitter the CBS medical drama has been canceled after three seasons.
"Dear #CodeBlack fans, the sad news came today that we were canceled. It's been a true joy to make this show and watch your response every week. Thank you for all of your passion. Truly, our best episodes have yet to air. We hope you'll watch and enjoy them. We made them for you," Seitzman tweeted Thursday.
Asked by a fan if Season 3 will end on a cliffhanger, Seitzman replied: "No way. This season finale was written to be a series finale. You won't want to miss it."
Starring Marcia Gay Harden, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, Moon Bloodgood, Luis Guzmán and Rob Lowe, the show was not renewed for a fourth season due to low ratings. The series is set in a busy hospital emergency room in Los Angeles.
