Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has released on social media an update on his health stating that he has canceled the remainder of his 2018 concert dates.

"Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the kind messages I've received this week. I'm home and doing well but the doctor recommends a bit more downtime before getting out to rock again," the rockstar said Tuesday on Twitter.

"So regrettably I had to cancel my upcoming tour dates. Was really looking forward to playing these shows with Brad and Gary and seeing all of you who were planning to come out and support us. We will be back out as soon as possible. Wishing you all happy holidays and looking forward to seeing you in 2019," he continued.

Perry was scheduled to perform at a number of locations from Nov. 30 to Dec. 16. He will next be seen with Aerosmith on Feb. 1 for a Super Bowl concert in Atlanta.

Perry was hospitalized in New York City recently after performing "Walk This Way" as a guest at Billy Joel's Madison Square Garden concert.

Perry reportedly collapsed in his dressing room following the performance with paramedics needing to put a tube down this throat to clear his air path and give him oxygen. He posted on Twitter days later at the time that he was doing well.
