Harry Shum Jr. named ambassador of 25th annual SAG Awards

Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Harry Shum Jr. has been named the ambassador of the upcoming 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards which is set to take place on Jan. 27.

Shum, known for his roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Shadowhunters, will be present at pre-show events leading up to the SAG Awards to give fans behind-the-scenes looks on social media.

The actor will also be announcing the film and television stunt ensembles that will be honored at the ceremony during the SAG Awards red carpet webcast.

"An incredible honor to be the @SAGawards Ambassador for the silver anniversary of the show! #sagawards," Shum said on Twitter.

The nominees for the 2019 SAG Awards will be announced Wednesday by Shum's Crazy Rich Asians co-star Awkwafina and Laverne Cox.

Shum won Favorite Male TV star at the People's Choice Awards in November for his role in Shadowhunters.

The actor made headlines in November when he and his wife Shelby Rabara confirmed on Instagram that they are expecting their first child together.
