Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Jennifer Garner surprised fans Tuesday by posting a throwback photo of herself with facial hair.
The 45-year-old actress drew comparisons to actors Eddie Redmayne and James Franco after sharing a picture of her transformation for a film that fell through.
The snapshot shows Garner wearing a short hairstyle and an auburn mustache and beard. She explained in the caption that the movie never came to fruition because she learned she was pregnant with her son, Samuel.

Garner's had post received over 31,600 likes as of Wednesday morning. Fans remarked on the actress' resemblance to Redmayne, Franco and other stars in the comments.
"Looks similar to a really young James Franco," one person wrote.
"You look like Eddie Redmayne," another added.
Garner shares 5-year-old Samuel, 8-year-old Seraphina and 12-year-old Violet with Ben Affleck, from whom she split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage. The couple filed for divorce in April, with Affleck later being linked to Lindsay Shookus.
"It's more than a summer fling," a source told E! News in July. "They are having fun and care for each other. It's early and they are taking it slow."
