Suicide car bomb kills 7, destroys bridge in Iraq

AL-RUTBA, Iraq, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Seven people were killed and a bridge was destroyed when a car bomb exploded Wednesday at a bridge checkpoint in al-Rutba, Iraq, police said.

The dead included four policemen and three truck drivers, a police officer told Kuwait News Agency KUNA. One officer was injured.

The suicide attacker also died, CNN reported.

The attack came just one day after an attack at a security checkpoint in the same town killed at least 12 police officers and injured 24 people.
