CAIRO, April 12 (UPI) -- An Egyptian activist drew a three-year jail term Tuesday for criticizing the army's role in the revolt that led to the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak.
Maikel Nabil, 26, is the first blogger to be jailed in Egypt since the removal of Mubarak, the Egyptian news organization Bikya Masr reported.
He was arrested March 28 for blog posts prosecutors called "false" and "insulting" to the Egyptian armed forces.
Attorney Gamal Eid of the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information said he was shocked by decision and sentence of the military court.
He called the trial unfair because the court failed to consider the content of Nabil's blog posts.
Eid said he would petition the head of the court to free Nabil and reverse the ruling.
