Google celebrates its 25th birthday with a Doodle

Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Google is celebrating its 25th birthday Wednesday with a colorful Doodle featuring the search engine's various logos through the years.

In the late 1990s, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, doctoral students at Stanford University's computer science program developed Google from their dorm rooms. They moved from their dorm to a garage that would become Google's first office on Sept. 27, 1998.

In 2006, Google bought the four-bedroom house featuring the garage in Menlo Park, Calif.

"We plan to preserve the property as part of our living legacy. We don't have any plans at this time to open it to the public," a Google spokeswoman said.

Google said that though there's been changes to the search engine in the last 25 years, its mission has remained the same, which is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."
