Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Though former adult-film star Stormy Daniels has denied having an affair with President Donald Trump more than a decade ago, an interview she gave in 2011 that resurfaced Thursday indicates otherwise.

In Touch republished an interview Daniels, born Stephanie Clifford, gave the magazine about how she met and had a sexual relationship with Trump in July 2006, when he still hosted The Apprentice.

Daniels, through Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, denied the affair last week after The Wall Street Journal reported Cohen arranged for Daniels to be paid $130,000 to remain silent about the encounter. The newspaper said the payment was made the week before the 2016 presidential election.

"Rumors that I have received hush money from Donald Trump are completely false," a statement signed by Daniels and issued by Cohen said.

But Daniels told In Touch in 2011 she met Trump at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nev., less than four months after his wife, Melanie Trump, gave birth to their son, Barron Trump. Daniels said Donald Trump asked her to have dinner with him, she agreed, and they ended up having sex in his hotel room.

In Touch said Daniels passed a polygraph test the magazine gave her to prove her allegations, and it confirmed her story with her friend, Randy Spears, and ex-husband, Mike Moz.

Cohen denied the Journal report on behalf of Trump.

"President Trump once again vehemently denies any such occurrence as has Ms. Daniels," he said in a statement directly to the newspaper.

"This is now the second time that you are raising outlandish allegations against my client. You have attempted to perpetuate this false narrative for over a year; a narrative that has been consistently denied by all parties since at least 2011."

Slate reporter Jacob Weisberg said, after the Journal's report, that he had been in contact with Daniels from August to October 2016. She allegedly told him about the affair and the plans for a payoff, but went silent about the same time the alleged $130,000 payment was made.

"As an alternative to being paid for her silence, Daniels wanted to be paid for her story," he wrote, but then, "A friend of hers told me Daniels had said she'd taken the money from Trump after all."
