EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Chelsea Clinton, campaigning for her mother in Eden Springs, Minn., made a verbal slip at a town hall, accidentally calling Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders "President Sanders."

The slip-up happened just hours before Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went head-to-head in their first debate since the Democratic field dropped down to two candidates.

When discussing gun control at a campaign event, Chelsea Clinton said: "We also need to strip away the immunity that President Sanders -- sorry Senator Sanders, I hope not President Sanders!" she corrected herself to laughs from the audience.

Clinton was initially referring to Sanders' 2005 vote to offer prosecutorial immunity to gun manufacturers, a vote her mother has repeatedly slammed Sanders for on the campaign trail.
