LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Los Angeles prosecutors said Monday Nadya Suleman, who became known as Octomom after giving birth to octuplets, lied on her welfare application.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said Suleman, 38, was recently charged with one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for aid. She allegedly didn't disclose nearly $30,000 in earnings when she applied for welfare last year, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Suleman, an unemployed single mother with six other children, could receive years in prison if convicted, the newspaper said.
She is to be arraigned Friday. Prosecutors are expected to request her bail be set at $25,000, the Times said.
