Police investigating alleged rape of Seton Hall U. student

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Police in South Orange, N.J., say the alleged sexual assault of a Seton Hall University student may have been videotaped.

Students at the Catholic school are believed to be circulating the footage, captured on someone's cell phone, NJ.com reported. Police Capt. Kyle Kroll said investigators have not seen the tape.

Dan Kalmanson, a Seton Hall spokesman, told NJ.com any students caught passing the video to others could be disciplined.

"The sharing of the video is completely unacceptable and contrary to our Catholic mission and our commitment to fostering a healthy academic and social environment for all students," he said. "The university has and will continue to address such conduct appropriately."

Kroll said the student reported to police she had been sexually assaulted at an off-campus party Nov. 16. Kalmanson said she first reported the assault to university officials who urged her to go to police.

No one has been charged. A source told NJ.com police have a suspect who is not a Seton Hall student.
