CENTENNIAL, Colo., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Prospective jurors in the Aurora, Colo., theater mass shooting case should be prepared to serve up to eight months, the judge handling the case said Wednesday.
While prosecutors have projected the trial of James Holmes could take four to six months, Arapahoe County District Judge Carlos Samour indicated in a filing Wednesday he's preparing for the entire process, including jury selection, to take longer, The Denver Post reported.
Jurors, Samour wrote, "should plan to be available to serve on this case for six to eight months."
Samour said prospective jurors should be told the selection process will last two to three months and the trial itself may last four to five months.
The judge also laid out the wording of some of the questions prospective jurors will be asked when jury selection is conducted next year, the newspaper said.
One of the questions will be, "Do you have strong opinions -- good or bad -- about mental-health providers?"
Holmes faces multiple first-degree murder charges in the July 20, 2012, shooting that left a dozen people dead and 70 injured at a theater where a Batman movie was being shown. Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
