A parks and recreation employee found the child wrapped in bags inside a diaper bag that had placed in bushes near a bike trail, DeFreece said.

The detective said the death was being investigated as a homicide "until we find out a reasonable explanation of why this occurred."

DNA testing will be used to help find the baby's parents, police said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning.

The sex of the child was not reported.
