Arizona mobile home fire kills four

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz., March 7 (UPI) -- Officials are investigating a mobile home fire that killed four people, including two children, in Apache Junction, Ariz., a town south of Phoenix.

Two stepbrothers, ages 38 and 32, an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were trapped in the home when it caught fire Tuesday evening, said Dave Montgomery of the Apache Junction Fire Department.

Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Farber said firefighters responded to a neighbor's 911 call reporting an explosion, found the home engulfed in fire and were unable to rescue the occupants.

The home was owned by a person with an ammunition business, and ammunition was believed to be in the home when the fire began, neighbors told The Arizona Republic. Firefighters put out the fire in 30 minutes and found the four victims near the door, officials said.

One man and the boy were residents in the mobile home. The other victims were visitors, Montgomery said.

No names were released by authorities, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
