Building overhang collapses; none harmed

BOSTON, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Fire officials say a large piece of the overhang above the main entrance of the Thomas P. O'Neill Federal Building in Boston collapsed.

A pipe in the ceiling burst at about 8 p.m. Monday, which caused water to leak into the lobby, said Steve MacDonald, Boston Fire Department spokesman.

The leak then caused a 20 feet by 60 feet piece of the overhang covering the building's walkway to fall.

The Boston Globe reports that no one was injured. MacDonald says the cause of the pipe damage is believed to be weather related.
