Obama, Gillard to meet in Washington

WASHINGTON, March 7 (UPI) -- U.S President Obama welcomes Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard to the White House Monday, the daily schedule indicates.

Among other things, Obama and Gillard will discuss U.S.-Australia ties, shared political and economic interests in the Asia-Pacific region and shared work around the world, the White House said.

The two will conduct bilateral and extended bilateral meetings in the Oval Office.

In the afternoon, Obama will meet with senior advisers.
