The flight landed safely around 10:35 a.m., close to its original scheduled arrival time, airport deputy director Rick Stein said.

The pilot told airport staff the plane had suffered an electrical failure of some kind but did not elaborate, he said.

Andrew Christie, a spokesman for Piedmont Airlines, the US Airways subsidiary that operates the Charlotte-Lynchburg route, said the 13 passengers and three crew members were not harmed.

After landing the plane was able to taxi to the terminal on its own power, Christie said.

Maintenance workers inspected the airplane, which will be flown without passengers to a repair location, he said.
