SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Utah maintained its solid Republican strength Tuesday by re-electing its GOP governor, U.S. Sen. Mike Lee and two of three Republican House candidates.
Lee was declared the winner by NBC with half of the vote, prevailing over Democrat Sam Granato with 46 percent and third-party candidate Scott Bradley.
Gov. Gary Herbert was projected to beat Democrat Peter Corroon with 52 percent of the vote, NBC said.
Democrat Jim Matheson was leading Republican Morgan Philpot in the 2nd Congressional District; however, incumbent Republicans Jason Chaffetz and Rob Bishop were re-elected.
