Officials said the deputy, whose identity was not released, was coming around the float when he was struck by a car making a left turn in front of the float.

Authorities said either the driver of the float or a float rider signaled for the female driver to take the turn in front of the parade vehicle.

The car's driver, whose identity was also not released, was not physically hurt in the accident.

Officials said the deputy did have his blue lights and siren activated while escorting the Titans parade float.

The Houma Today said the accident is being investigated by state police to determine if the accident should result in any arrests or summonses.
