BANGKOK, May 11 (UPI) -- Ailing Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi was allowed access to a doctor Monday, a spokesman for her party said.
Suu Kyi, 63, a Nobel Prize winner, met with Dr. Pyone Moe Ei Friday at her home, but government soldiers denied him access to her Saturday, CNN reported.
Monday, the doctor was allowed back into her home where he was treating her for dehydration and low blood pressure, said Nyan Win, a spokesman for the National League for Democracy. Suu Kyi's regular doctor, Tin Myo Win, was unexpectedly arrested last Thursday on unknown charges, CNN reported.
Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for 13 of the last 19 years in Yangon, Myanmar, formerly known as Rangoon, Burma.
Government soldiers barricaded the back of her property with piles of wood and barbed wire fences after Wednesday's detention of a U.S. resident who apparently swam across a lake to Suu Kyi's house, CNN reported.
Her detention is set to end May 27, but government officials have not said whether they will release her.
