U.S. to end trade agreement with Bolivia

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the United States is suspending its trade agreement with Bolivia, El Universal reported Friday.

Following a meeting Thursday with Mexican officials about Mexico's fight against drug-related violence, Rice said the United States was suspending the agreement because Bolivian President Evo Morales had not improved his country's efforts to combat drug cultivation.

The agreement between the United States and other Andean countries like Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, lowers U.S. tariffs on good from those countries imported into the United States.
