India, Pakistan leaders to meet

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf says he hopes to hold substantive talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when the two leaders meet in Cuba.

Singh and Musharraf are expected to meet on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Havana this week, reports the Press Trust of India.

Musharraf, who plans to visit the United States after the Havana summit, was quoted as saying he would try to make his talks with the Indian leader "substantive, so that these are result oriented."

Musharraf is scheduled speak at the United Nations General Assembly during his U.S. visit and later attend a party at the White House hosted by President Bush along with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, the report said.

The Pakistani leader recalled his recent visit to Afghanistan and said the White House meeting would help consolidate trust so the two countries can have a concerted strategy in the fight terrorism and extremism.
