WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The top six party leaders in the House raised more than $1 million each in 2003, according to year-end financial reports.
Congress Daily reported Thursday House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., raised $1.3 million through his political action committee and nearly $2.1 million more through his personal re-election fund in 2003, according to Federal Elections Commission documents.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calilf., raised $590,000 through her PAC and another $960,000 for her re-election efforts.
Majority Leader Tom DeLay, the No. 2 Republican in the House collected more than $1.1 million for his reelection fund and nearly $2.2 million through his PAC.
Democratic Caucus Chairman Robert Menendez of New Jersey collected $395,000 through his PAC and more than $2 million for his re-election efforts.
Majority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., raised $820,000 for his PAC and an additional $1.2 million for his own campaign.
