WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Sen. John Kerry leads in delegate-rich Missouri and Arizona as the contenders for the U.S. Democratic presidential nomination head into Tuesday's primaries.

According to a survey released Friday by pollster Zogby International, the Massachusetts senator holds the No. 1 spot in Missouri with support of 45 percent of the likely primary voters, MSNBC reports. The next closest candidate, North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, trails behind with 11 percent.

In Arizona, Kerry leads with 38 percent of likely primary voters. Retired Gen. Wesley Clark has 17 percent and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean comes third with 12 percent.

The two states have 129 delegates of the 269 to be selected Tuesday.

Meanwhile, results were mixed in the three other states with primaries scheduled for Tuesday -- South Carolina, Arizona and Delaware -- and in New Mexico and North Dakota, which will hold caucuses, the poll found.

Zogby's poll was conducted Tuesday through Thursday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
