Seahawks sign All-Pro punter Michael Dickson to 4-year extension

June 4 (UPI) -- The Seattle Seahawks have signed All-Pro punter Michael Dickson to a four-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

League sources told ESPN and NFL Media that Dickson's deal includes $14.5 million in new money that could reach as much as $16 million. The agreement, which could make him the league's highest-paid punter at $4 million annually, will pay him $10.6 million over the first two seasons.

The Seahawks posted multiple pictures of Dickson officially signing the contract Friday, but the team didn't disclose terms of the pact.

Dickson, a fifth-round draft pick, was scheduled to earn about $3.4 million this season in the final year of his rookie deal that he signed in 2018.

Over his three seasons in the league, Dickson ranks fifth in the NFL in yards per punt (47.55) and seventh in net yards per punt (42.29). During that same span, he led the league in punts downed inside the 10-yard line (41) and inside the 5-yard line (15).

The 25-year-old Dickson, who grew up in Australia and started kicking an American football in 2015, set Seahawks records last season in punting average (49.64) and net average (44.41).

Seattle now has all three of its specialists under multiyear contracts. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers and long-snapper Tyler Ott both are signed through the 2022 season.
