June 4 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland, the team announced. The agreement, which was announced Friday, brings another veteran free agent to the Vikings' secondary. Earlier this off-season, Minnesota added Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Vikings before playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020.

The Vikings didn't disclose the terms of Breeland's contract.
Breeland started 32 games for the Chiefs over the last two seasons, including six playoff contests. He recorded five interceptions during that span, including one pick in the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The 29-year-old Breeland missed the first four games of last season after the NFL suspended him for violating the league's policy on substance abuse. He notched 38 total tackles, two picks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and nine passes defensed in 11 games last year.
Before joining the Chiefs in 2019 as a free agent, Breeland spent his first four seasons with the Washington Football Team. The 2014 fourth-round draft pick then played one season for the Green Bay Packers in 2018.
In 94 career regular-season games, Breeland has tallied 377 total tackles, 14 interceptions, one sack, eight forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 80 pass breakups.
In April 2020, Breeland was arrested in York County, S.C., on multiple charges, including resisting arrest, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle and driving without a license.
