Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden sustained an ankle injury and had to be carted off the field at Wednesday's practice session.

Sources told NFL Network and ESPN the injury is considered minor. Haden, 30, is playing on the final year of his contract with the Steelers. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft joined the team in 2017 after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Cleveland Browns.

Haden had 63 tackles, 12 passes defensed, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 15 starts last season for the Steelers. The two-time Pro Bowl selection missed five games in 2017 due to injuries. Haden has a $10 million base salary in 2019.

The Steelers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their first preseason game at 7:30 p.m. EDT Friday at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Haden and Steven Nelson are listed as the team's starting cornerbacks, with Mike Hilton listed as the nickel cornerback. Pittsburgh also has Brian Allen, Artie Burns, Justin Layne, Jermaine Ponder and Cameron Sutton for depth at the position.
