Panthers to bring in Hoke as DL coach

Former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke reportedly will work in the NFL for the first time after more than 30 years in college coaching,

Hoke is expected to be named the Carolina Panthers' defensive line coach, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

Hoke would replace Eric Washington, who was promoted to defensive coordinator. Washington replaced Steve Wilks, who named the Arizona Cardinals head coach last week.

Hoke was the defensive line coach at Tennessee during the 2017 season, and served as the Volunteers' interim head coach after Butch Jones was fired on Nov. 12.

Hoke was the defensive coordinator at Oregon in 2016.

He was the head coach at Michigan from 2011-2014, and served as head coach at San Diego State from 2009 to 2010.
