Buffalo Bills fans throw each other through flaming tables at tailgate

By Alex Butler

Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Bills Mafia was in full effect before the Buffalo Bills' playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The parking lots surrounding EverBank Field Sunday in Jacksonville were washed out by a sea of Buffalo blue jerseys and fan gear. Throngs of fans from the opposing team screamed and cheered for their beloved Bills and threw each other on top of folding tables, some of which were on fire.

Videos surfaced Sunday and Monday, showing the (dedicated?) fans consuming copious amounts of beer and breaking many tables, a tradition carried on by Bills fans throughout the season.

While Jaguars fans appeared more mellow in the videos, those same fans had their moments this season. Earlier in the year, Jaguars fans were seen jumping into pools filled with mayonnaise.

"That's one thing that I was surprised, coming from Philadelphia," Bills running back LeSean McCoy told reporters after the game. "The fans, they drive everywhere. I think Buffalo fans got them beat. I'm extremely disappointed to let them down. They traveled so far and they rallied behind us. When things weren't looking good. They made this trip. Sorry we couldn't get a win for them."

Witnesses told Action News Jacksonville that Bills fans started a bonfire, burning folding tables, beer cans and trash, which had to be put out by firefighters.

Before the game, witnesses posted photos of people checking folding tables for their luggage at the Buffalo airport.

Tim Konzziela was one of those fans. He paid $75 to bring his table with him on a flight, because his table exceeded the luggage size limit.

"Walked into the airport with it, I got a couple of strange looks. Then I was met with a whole lot of fanfare and 'Go Bills!" Konzziela told WGRZ Buffalo.

Local hardware stores around EverBank Field said they did not sell an extraordinary amount of tables this weekend.
