Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins have traded running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to multiple sources.

Philadelphia confirmed the move on Tuesday morning. Ajayi goes to the Eagles in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The move went down just hours before the NFL's trade deadline at 4 p.m. Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Ajayi, 24, ranked No. 4 in rushing last season with 1,272 yards on 260 carries. He ranks No. 13 through seven games this season with 465 yards on 107 carries. He is averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Ajayi has eclipsed 77 rushing yards just twice this season and hasn't scored a touchdown. He has 1,924 yards and nine scores in 31 career appearances.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase has some harsh words for his running back group on Friday, saying that they needed to stop trying to "hit home runs all the time."

"It's on the running back. Do your job. That's what you've got to do. It's not hard," Gase told reporters.

This move has huge fantasy football implications. The Eagles backfield gets even more crowded, but Ajayi should lead LeGarrette Blount, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement and Kenjon Barner. The Dolphins will turn to Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Sinorice Perry with the void left by the 2016 Pro Bowl selection.

Williams is second in rushing among Dolphins running backs, but has just 32 yards on 12 carries. Drake has 25 yards on 10 receptions. Last season, Williams showed off his strength as a pass catcher out of the backfield, snaring 23 receptions for 249 yards and three scores. Drake had 179 rushing yards compared to Williams' 115 yards on 25 carries. Drake also averaged 5.4 yards per carry, compared to Williams' 3.3 yards per tote.

Both Williams and Drake will be competing for carries in this now murky backfield, but Blount can likely be dropped from your fantasy football roster. Ajay is still an RB2 as he has yet to live up to his first round draft day value. Blount currently leads the 7-1 Eagles with 467 yards and two scores on 100 rushing attempts.

Prioritize Drake in your waiver claims. He is a low-end RB2 or flex option in deeper leagues until this situation clears up.
