Oakland Raiders add another weapon in former Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook

The Oakland Raiders added another weapon to their passing game Thursday, signing unrestricted free agent tight end Jared Cook.

The NFL Network reported Cook signed a two-year contract for up to $12.2 million and the first year guaranteed.

Cook spent last season with the Green Bay Packers, catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. Now he'll team up with Pro Bowl quarterback Derek Carr in Oakland.

The 6-foot-5, 254-pound Cook played in 10 games during his one season with the Packers and started five, finishing with 30 receptions for 377 yards and one touchdown. In the playoffs, he added 18 catches for 229 yards, including the sideline reception that set up the winning field in the NFL divisional round game against the Dallas Cowboys, and two touchdowns.

A third-round draft pick by Tennessee in 2009, Cook played for the Titans from 2009 to 2012 and then moved on to the Rams from 2013 to 2015.

In 117 career games and 47 starts during his eight-year NFL career, Cook has 303 receptions for 3,880 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 12.8-yard average per catch ranks third among NFL tight ends since he came into the league.

According to reports, the Packers were in contract talks to keep Cook but couldn't close a deal.

Now they'll go forward with Martellus Bennett, who signed a three-year, $21 million contract, and Lance Kendricks, who received a two-year, $4 million deal.

Cook, who made $2.75 million last year, also visited the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings before signing with the Raiders.
