KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- If you haven't already scrambled to lock up Charcandrick West or Spencer Ware on your fantasy football roster, you're probably too late.

But if you did, you could have a top-10 running back this week in Spencer Ware.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs officially ruled out running back Jamaal Charles, paving the way for Ware and West. Charles was previously listed as doubtful this week as he recovers from an ACL tear. Look for Ware to be the early down back and goal line guy, while West should have a pass-catching role.

On Friday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid followed a week of Charles uncertainty by saying "he's probably not going to play."

Ware could maintain RB1 status until Charles returns to full health. The Chiefs face the San Diego Chargers, which allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs last season. The Chargers also allowed the third-most rushing touchdowns to the position in 2015.
