Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is dealing with a mild hamstring, coach John Fox told reporters on Thursday. Jeffery suffered the injury on Wednesday and did not participate in the following day's practice.
"We get concerned about everybody, whether they're injured or not practicing," Fox told the Chicago Tribune. "But on the other hand, we don't get too concerned. We've got guys to take their place. It's part of camp."
Signed to a one-year franchise tag tender of $14.599 million, Jeffery endured an injury-plagued season in 2015. The 26-year-old collected 54 receptions for 807 yards and four touchdowns in just nine games last season.
Jeffery is expected to shoulder the load after the Bears saw pass-catching running back Matt Forte join the New York Jets and tight end Martellus Bennett head to New England in the offseason.
A second-round selection of the 2012 draft, Jeffery has 252 catches for 3,728 yards and 24 touchdowns in four seasons in Chicago.
