RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Two of the most feared members on the most revered basketball teams in Rio de Janeiro want to square off in a 1-on-1 matchup.

On Tuesday, USA Today's Sam Amick reported that 6-foot-8 Brittney Griner wants to try her game against the men. The WNBA and Team USA center chose Team USA big-man DeMarcus Cousins as her foe.

"I would love to just go out there and play against [Cousins]," Griner told Amick. "We talk a lot of crap to each other. I love talking to him. He's really funny. I would love to just go out there and play against him."

"I've never really been around him before until now, but he's like that big brother, just to talk smack to and who is always competitive. He's awesome."

Cousins responded by saying "whenever you're ready..."

The Sacramento Kings center is a two-time All-Star and has averaged 20.2 points and 10.8 rebounds in six NBA seasons.

In July, Kings general manager Vlade Divac called Cousins "the most dominant player in the whole world," in an interview with CSN Bay Area.

Griner is a three-time All-Star and has averaged 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in four seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. She is three inches shorter and 71 pounds lighter than Cousins. They are both 25-years-old.

Team USA faces Canada at 2:30 p.m. Friday in women's basketball and faces Serbia at 6 p.m. Friday in men's basketball.
