Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Chris Coghlan is headed to Philadelphia Phillies spring training.

The outfielder/infielder agreed to a minor league contract with the team Thursday. MLB.com's Todd Zolecki first reported the signing, which has since been confirmed. Coghlan's pact includes an invite to spring training in Clearwater, Florida.

Coghlan hit .188 with six home runs and 30 RBI in 99 games last season for the Chicago Cubs. He appeared at infield positions 44 times and in the outfield 46 times. He served as a designated hitter twice. Coghlan was hampered last season due to a leg strain and rib contusion. The left-handed hitter owns a .260 batting average with 52 home runs in eight seasons for the Florida Marlins, Miami Marlins, Cubs, and Oakland Athletics.

The 2016 World Series champion was also the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year.
