July 28 (UPI) -- Max Holloway retained his UFC title fight by defeating MMA legend Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 240 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. The victory came via comprehensive unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 48-47) in Holloway's third successful 145-pound title defense. Saturday night's fight lasted five rounds.

Holloway (21-4) registered his first decision victory since beating Ricardo Lamas at UFC 199 in June 2016. He suffered a five-round decision loss to interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier in April.
"Everybody said I wasn't able to wrestle with this guy," Holloway said. "I wanted to prove a point and go five rounds with him, so I could let the world know I'm here to stay. The 'Blessed' express is still on the move."
Holloway has won 14 straight bouts as a featherweight.
"Max is a stud, man," Edgar said. "He represents our sport to the best. He represents this division to the best. He's the best guy in the world."
Holloway called Edgar, who fell to 22-7-1, a "true warrior."
"He's the guy who inspired me to be here," Holloway said. "You're the man, Frank."
