Josh McCown is back at practice in hopes of regaining the starting quarterback spot for the Cleveland Browns.

"I'm looking forward to help any way I can," he said.

McCown started Week 2 and finished the game despite a broken collarbone. He suffered the injury in the first half against the Baltimore Ravens and remained in the game.

The injury is not a hindrance off the field. McCown said Monday he plans to practice this week, which could represent welcome relief for the Browns, who visit the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Sunday.

"I'm going to practice Wednesday and we'll see how it plays out," he said. "Just getting out there and moving around is exciting to me."

Cleveland's well-traveled QB job has been held by five players in five games. On Sunday, with rookie Cody Kessler injured, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor played behind center. Pryor was a quarterback in college at Ohio State and played the position for the Oakland Raiders under current Browns coach Hue Jackson.

McCown's injury history might imply he is not necessarily the answer for the Browns.

The hot potato position in Cleveland was vacated by McCown last season due to injury and he's suffered several major injuries in his career.

This season the familiar refrain of quarterback uncertainty has dogged the Browns during their 0-5 start.

Robert Griffin III started Week 1 but was placed on injured reserve with a left shoulder injury. He is unlikely to be able to play again this season.

In Week 2, McCown ran to the locker room after he took a hit in the first quarter but returned to play through the painful injury. It was the second time he fractured his collarbone; McCown missed five games with the same injury in 2015. This time, the injury is on the left side of his body.

Kessler's status is day-to-day, Jackson said, after X-rays Sunday revealed no broken bones in his chest and ribs. Backup Charlie Whitehurst briefly left the Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots but was able to return.

Former Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan is on the practice squad.
