Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Ivory remained hospitalized Monday with what the team described the day before as a "general medical issue."

Ivory was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning and missed the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Ivory's status for Sunday's game at San Diego is in doubt, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Ivory is "in pain" and more tests are being done by doctors to come up with a treatment plan, Schefter reported.

The Jaguars on Sunday said Ivory "is doing well and is expected to be released from the hospital in the next day or two."

The Jaguars signed Ivory, who rushed for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns with the New York Jets last season, to work in tandem with second-year running back T.J. Yeldon. The deal was for five years and $32 million, with $10 million guaranteed.

Ivory was previously questionable to play against the Packers with a calf injury. Ivory was limited in three practices last week due to the calf injury, but ESPN reported his absence Sunday was unrelated.
