Jones joined fellow veterans Brian Hartline and Lance Moore in working out for San Diego on Tuesday.

Jones stepped in for the injured Jordy Nelson and reeled in 50 receptions for 890 yards and eight touchdowns last season with Green Bay. The 32-year-old will be looked on to contribute immediately for the Chargers following the loss of Stevie Johnson, who suffered a torn meniscus during Sunday's practice.

Jones has 433 catches for 5,861 yards and 51 touchdowns in nine seasons with the Packers and Oakland.

Keenan Allen is San Diego's No. 1 receiver, with free-agent acquisition Travis Benjamin providing the big-play threat following the retirement of Malcom Floyd and youngster Dontrelle Inman also figures heavily into the mix.
