The Atlanta Braves placed right-hander Julio Teheran on the 15-day disabled list with a right lat strain prior to Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Outfielder Matt Kemp, who was acquired from San Diego on Saturday, will fill the roster spot and make his debut versus the Pirates.

Teheran (3-9, 2.81 ERA) exited a start versus Colorado on July 22 after scattering three hits over four scoreless innings with right lat tightness. The 25-year-old Colombian labored through five frames in his next outing versus Philadelphia on Saturday, taking the loss after permitting three runs on five hits.

Despite his less-than-desirable record, Teheran has recorded an 0.95 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 134 2/3 innings this season.

Kemp is batting .262 with 23 homers and 69 RBIs in 100 games in 2016.
