The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Thomas originally joined Dolphins last season when he was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals. He was signed to the Dolphins' practice squad on Sept. 15 and added to the 53-man roster late in the season but never played in a game.

Thomas, 24, spent the 2014 season with Arizona after being selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In his career, Thomas has appeared in two games, going 1-of-9 passing for an 81-yard touchdown.

The Giants also waived quarterback B.J. Daniels in a corresponding move.
