Golden State Warriors: Andrew Bogut out for remainder of NBA Finals

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut will miss the remainder of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a left knee injury.

An MRI revealed that Bogut will not require surgery, the Warriors announced Wednesday. Bogut will be sidelined 6-8 weeks.

"Warriors center Andrew Bogut, who suffered a significant impaction injury to his left knee during Monday's Game 5 of the NBA Finals, underwent an MRI yesterday in the Bay Area," the team statement read. "The MRI revealed the impact resulted in bone bruises to the proximal tibia and distal femur. He traveled with the team to Cleveland for Game 6, but due to the remaining length of the NBA Finals and expected recovery time, a minimum of 6-8 weeks, he will miss the remainder of the series. The injury will not require surgery and he is expected to make a full recovery."

The 31-year-old Australian suffered the injury at the 10:30 mark of the third quarter in Game 5 at Oracle Arena on Monday night.

The 7-foot Bogut collided with Cleveland guard J.R. Smith during the 112-97 loss to the Cavaliers. Bogut collected three rebounds and three blocks but did not score a point in the setback for Golden State, which holds a 3-2 edge in the series.

The Warriors will see the return on Thursday night of fellow big man Draymond Green, who missed Game 5 while serving a one-game suspension for his below-the-belt hit on LeBron James.
