Griffin, who was scheduled to earn $6.5 million in 2016, was released on Feb. 9.

Coach Mike Zimmer made it clear at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine that signing another safety to pair with Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith was pressing offseason priority.

The Vikings did re-sign safety Andrew Sendejo on March 7. Sendejo has made 26 career starts - all with the Vikings - and appeared in 63 career games.
