The Minnesota Vikings added former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to their coaching staff, according to reports Sunday.

It is unclear what role Shurmur will hold on head coach Mike Zimmer's staff, the Star Tribune reported.

The Vikings' only opening was the running backs coaching position after Kirby Wilson left for the Cleveland Browns.

Shurmur was the Eagles' offensive coordinator for the past three seasons and served as interim head coach in the regular-season finale after head coach Chip Kelly was fired.

Shurmur interviewed for the Eagles' head coaching vacancy that eventually went to former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson.

The 50-year-old Shurmur was 9-23 in two years as head coach with the Cleveland Browns. He spent 10 years as an Eagles assistant (1999-2008) before returning in 2013 as Kelly's offensive coordinator.
