NBA: Dallas 110, Los Angeles Lakers 97

DALLAS, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and Vince Carter added 19 off the bench to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 110-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday.

Nowitzki also had seven rebounds for the Mavericks, who ended a two-game losing streak, and Monta Ellis narrowly missed a double-double with 16 points and nine assists.

Jodie Meeks led the wobbly Lakers with 24 points and Kendall Marshall scored 18. Los Angeles has lost eight of their last nine games. Pau Gasol played more than 36 minutes and scored 14 points and nabbed 13 rebounds.

Dallas outscored their guests in each quarter and shot 53.3 percent from the field to 42.0 percent for Los Angeles.
