WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Jacob Trouba scored midway through the first period to ignite a streak of four straight Winnipeg goals Thursday that brought the Jets a 5-2 win over Florida.
It was the first home victory for Winnipeg since Nov. 15. The Panthers had their season-best, five-game winning streak snapped.
Trouba deflected a shot past Jacob Markstrom to tie the contest at 1-1, after which Tobias Enstrom and Blake Wheeler added first-period goals for the Jets.
Evander Kane built the lead to 4-1 early in the second and Michael Frolik added a goal late in the middle period for the final score of the contest.
Winnipeg had gone 0-3-2 at home since defeating Philadelphia in a shootout midway through November.
Ondrej Pavelec made 21 saves to collect the victory. Markstrom stopped 27-of-32 shots.
