WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Nicklas Backstrom scored in regulation and added the decisive goal in a shootout Saturday, lifting the Washington Capitals over Florida 3-2.
Mikhail Grabovski and Brooks Laich also scored in the tiebreaker for the Caps, who had surrendered a 2-1 lead late in regulation on a goal by Florida's Tomas Fleischmann.

John Carlson scored in regulation and Michal Neuvirth stopped 31-of-33 shots for Washington.
Neuvirth also made a tough save on the Panthers' Jonathan Huberdeau in the shootout for Washington, which won a second straight following a 7-0 pounding of Philadelphia Friday.
Jesse Winchester scored and Scott Clemmensen made 21 saves for Florida.
