MLB: Tampa Bay 3, New York Yankees 1

NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- Chris Archer tossed six efficient innings and James Loney supplied the go-ahead RBIs Sunday in the Tampa Bay Rays' 3-1 victory over the New York Yankees.

Archer (2-3) tamed the Yankees on a single run, issuing six hits and a walk while striking out four en route to the victory.

Jake McGee and Joel Peralta each tossed an inning of scoreless relief and Fernando Rodney struck out the side in the ninth for his 15th save as Tampa Bay earned a four-game split at Yankee Stadium.

The Rays broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning on Loney's two-run single off New York starter Ivan Nova.

Nova (2-2) ended up allowing three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 frames.

Robinson Cano supplied New York's only RBI and Brett Gardner went 3-for-4 in the loss.
