MLB: Pittsburgh 7, Milwaukee 1

PITTSBURGH, May 16 (UPI) -- Travis Snider hit a two-run homer Thursday and then ignited Pittsburgh's big sixth inning, lifting the Pirates to a 7-1 triumph over Milwaukee.

Pittsburgh has won three straight and six of seven while the Brewers have dropped three in a row.

Snider had three of Pittsburgh's 13 hits and his home run in the fifth inning a 1-1 tie.

The Pirates then scored four times in the sixth to break the game open. Snider singled in the first run of the inning and RBI base hits followed from Andrew McCutchen, Garrett Jones and Neil Walker.

The win went to Francisco Liriano (2-0), who made his second start since coming off the disabled list. He allowed a run on six hits and struck out seven in 5 2/3 innings.

Hiram Burgos (1-2) surrendered three runs on eight hits in five innings to take the loss.
