PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Rodney Wallace scored in the 78th minute Saturday, lifting the Portland Timbers into a 1-1 draw with Seattle.

The Portland defender scored off a corner kick, rising to redirect a cross from Jack Jewsbury that made its way just inside the post.

The draw allowed last-place Portland to improve to 7-14-7 in the Western Conference.

Fredy Montero scored on a right-footed shot in the 57th for the Sounders (13-6-9), who are second in the West with 48 points.
